Trail Dom Guéranger
From Sablé-sur-Sarthe to Saint-Pierre de Solesmes Abbey
Born from an inspiring encounter between the Association for the Canonization of Dom Guéranger and Kamino Sport (founded by UTMB ultrarunner Grégoire Von Rakowski), the Dom Guéranger Trail is an exceptional sporting and cultural event uniting athletic challenge, nature preservation, historical discovery, and spiritual depth.
The course symbolically connects the birthplace of Dom Prosper Guéranger (Sablé-sur-Sarthe, where he was born in 1805) to his life’s masterwork: Solesmes Abbey, which he resurrected from its ruins in 1833 to restore the Benedictine Order in France. Participants journey along the scenic towpaths of the River Sarthe, wooded trails, and through private historic estates exceptionally open for this special day, concluding with a breathtaking finish facing the monumental abbey facade.
